In a bid to have all genres of entertainment in Imo State
working harmoniously, entertainers have come together under ‘Imo Artistes League’,
an organization which is working tireless to take entertainers and
entertainment to the next level in the state.
Knowing that entertainers are nothing without events, the
League has rolled out its first event tagged ‘Imo Laff Session’, a Gospel-Comic
event packaged to meet the needs of both the conservative and contemporary
entertainment lovers in the state.
Speaking ahead of the event scheduled for September 23,
2016, the President of the League and even Facilitator, Hon. Iruno Chukwunonye
said the event is being package to kick start a new chapter in the
entertainment industry of the state.
On why only gospel music artistes were listed on the
event he said: “How do you want to start something if not with God. At the end
of the day, there will be events for everyone because we have musicians, those
in the movies, comedians, DJs, dancers, models and even on-air personalities.
“We are working towards providing a platform for the
teaming talented youths who contribute to the socio-economic development of the
state. The event will afford Imolites a Godly and humorous atmosphere that will
increase their life span. It’s something no one wants to miss”
Speaking further, the prolific Master of Ceremony
explained that “We have everyone on board and someday, there will surely be
something for everyone. We just want to be different now and everyone will be
fighting to make the industry a great one. We must support ourselves and our
own because no one will do it for us”
Hon. Iruno further stated that the event will also
feature top comedians and dancers, while gospel music maestros Frank Edwards,
Buchi, Chinyere Udoma will be headlining the event.
Other artistes listed for the event are Joe Praise, Deac.
Chike Okafor, Tonnel Avo, Joseph Adesoji, King J and Obele Jesus.
Ace comedians Gordons, Dan De Humourous and Banana Mouth
will be leading a league of comedians comprising of, Apostle Solo, 2Can Talk,
MC Egbeigwe, Laffin Gas, Uncle O, Prince White, Preye, T Boy, Shedrack &
Meshak, Broda Bossman and Paul & Silas.
The current arrow of entertainment in the state hailed
the efforts of some members who are working tirelessly to see that the event is
success, especially the Leauge’s Publicty Secretary, Mr. Tonygreg Ukaegbu aka
MC Banana Mouth, urging Imolites and others who can make it to the event not to
miss it, because it will be a lifetime experience.
The event will be taking place on Friday, September 23,
2016 at Imo International Convention Centre, Owerri, with Red Carpet starting
by 4:00PM and main event kicking off two hours later by 6:00PM.
